Mark Manderson is an accomplished executive with a career of over 25 years’ experience in leading high performance executive teams to drive change, propel sales, market share and profit growth. Mark’s business career has seen him gain global experience in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa and Barbados.
Mark Manderson has significant experience and expertise in business strategy, acquisitions and divestments, business performance reviews, succession/exit planning, corporate restructuring and change management. This experience was gained in both the public and private arenas. Strong values, work ethic and negotiation skills, has seen him professionally representing companies in directorships, and on joint venture and industry-specific committees.
As CEO of Keto Pumps, a key supplier of pumps to the mining industry, Mark spearheaded the growth strategy and led a three-way merger with a South African distributor/supplier and AUD$21 million private equity investment, returning existing shareholders both their initial investment as well as a 25% stake in newly-formed global company. He was also instrumental in creating a strong global sales channel that catapulted global sales from AUD$1.2 million pa to over AUD $10 million pa in less than four years.
As CEO of Worldwide Online Printing (Franchise), Mark led strategy development and re-structure of the business resulting in a sales increase of 30% to $60 million and Ebitda increase of 88%. Over five years Mark grew sales by 52% despite a print industry downturn of negative 4%. During that timeframe the company received prestigious recognition in the Australian BRW 50 fastest growing franchise list for four consecutive years and in top 10 franchises as voted by franchisees in an industry survey.
As COO/CFO of National One, Mark was key in the business review and formulation of the exit strategy for a major shareholder and restructure of operations resulting in annual savings of $8 million. He was also a key member of the team that completed the on market sale of the company to Lyreco S.A.
An 8 year career with TransAlta Corporation, based in New Zealand and Australia, saw Mark involved in the numerous acquisitions, constructions, operations and sale of key electricity assets in generation, distribution and retailing services owned by the company. As the leader of the team he oversaw the NZD$830 million sale of the interest in listed TransAlta New Zealand to the publicly listed Australian company AGL Ltd, following a 4 year program of accumulation, construction and merger of the assets that formed the company. During this time Mark gained insight to the mining industry overseeing the key supply of electricity to remote mining Clients in Australia.
Early in his career Mark spent time in finance and treasury at a New Zealand bank and as Corporate Treasurer of a large UK PLC equipment rental company
