AI Investing Trends:

The AI startup funding landscape has changed significantly in a short space of time and is currently dominating global venture capital. In 2025 alone, AI startups have attracted a whopping $192.7BN in venture funding, accounting for over half of(52.5%) of all VC investment worldwide.

There is, of course, ongoing speculation that it’s just another ‘tech boom’. However, what differentiates this from previous investment cycles built on speculative potential is that the AI funding environment rewards traction, measurable impact and sustainable business models.

According to Beauhurst, the UK is home to a fast-growing population of AI startups and scaleups, developing their own AI proprietary technology and new applications for machine learning algorithms and data science.

AI is being incorporated into almost all high-growth industries, with models being used to help both consumers and businesses, and therefore predicted to continue to dominate the investment landscape on a global scale.

It’s sounding more like a ‘tech boom’ that’s here to stay for a while.

AI Founder Qualities:

Investors are focussed on seeking talented and experienced tech founders who are able to prove their technology works, customers actually want it, the business model scales profitably and regulatory risks are manageable.

Essentially, investors are requiring founders to clearly demonstrate the following 4 competencies:

  1. Technical differentiation (a clear advantage over existing solutions).
  2. Market validation (early traction, pilot programmes).
  3. Financial discipline (a sound financial model that generates profits at scale).
  4. Regulatory preparedness (awareness of AI governance, data privacy, compliance trends).

Given the crowded marketplace, it’s vital that founders can deliver this detail to an investor to stand out and grab attention in this fast-paced and diverse sector.

Our PACP partners are working with several founders and their AI businesses, at various stages and across industries, with strategy and fundraising support.
